I believe that Chandler is special. I’m proud of our city, and proud to live here. I like to think most residents feel the same way because we’ve all chosen to raise families, invest in businesses and create a life well lived here.
I’m not running for City Council because I think things are going so terribly wrong. I’m running because I believe Chandler’s best days are ahead of us, and that city leadership has a role in ushering that future into reality.
I want to be part of making our city the kind of place my kids –and yours-can call home.
Can city government do it alone? Absolutely not. But we can create the infrastructure that businesses demand, and the culture that families crave as a foundation to build on.That means investing in a top-notch quality of life, in a city that deserves every bit of it; jobs, roads, neighborhoods, schools, safety and events. We need good paying careers in all sectors, and housing that lets people achieve the American dream. Quality education is the key to attracting those high-quality employers, and all thesethings contribute to funding our safe neighborhoods, smooth roads, and fun parks and activities.
On a practical level, that means business attraction with the sort of jobs that pay well enough to afford a home here. You may have heard that Chandler is ‘built out’, but make no mistake, that does not mean we are closed for business. It simply means we need leadership with the vision to think creatively and demand success. My vision includes a strategy around the very different demands of redevelopment rather than simply building new, an engaged business community with the expertise to help us grow, and a government that invests in infrastructure and gets out of the way.
Does that mean our city government needs to be more flexible and do a little more hand holding through the process? Absolutely. I know we are capable of it, because for years, we’ve successfully done so in Downtown Chandler. As a council member, I’ve voted to remove obstacles and red tape, and I also understand that there’s more work to do. Again, not because things are bad, but because they can always be better. I believe that Chandler’s best days are ahead of us. I ask for your vote on July 21stso I can help make that happen
